Our universe is composed of tiny discrete bits of energy and the energy is immortal.
These are my assumptions re our Bodies, Brains, Minds and Spirits are what I regard as their primary functions:
Body - The Body is a mammal that we use as a device to execute our earthly desires and intentions.
Brain - The Brain is a storehouse/ computer in the Body concerned with bodily activities. It is programmable to automatically direct many Body functions (respiration, healing, etc.)
Mind - Our Minds are holdovers from very basic, animalistic ages when our mammals, our bodies- to -be, were very concerned about their physical survival. The Mind is non-corporeal and survives the Body's current life. Its cumulative information influences your current Body and it's own future mental attitudes. The mind receives and stores info mainly about past experiences. The Mind considers this info necessary for the survival of your current, existing Body, especially but not exclusively in it's infancy, i.e., breathing, suckling, reacting to pain, etc. There are many references; religious, scientific and otherwise, supporting my point of view that the Spirit superimposes itself on the Mind when it decides, usually at birth, to control a Body. The late Carl Sagan wrote a bestseller about this situation called, I think, "The Dragons of Eden'. L. Ron Hubbard's writings flatly state that the Spirit takes over and 'conquers' the Mind (with it's Body) and that the Mind doesn't like that.
There is a competition for controlling your body's actions between the Spirit and the Mind. The Spirit always has the upper hand and most of the time allows the Mind to run the body- survival stuff unimpeded. The Spirit overrides the Mind's objections when it wants (most easily seen in athletes) to push the body beyond what the Mind thinks is safe.
Mind can also, purportedly, participate in mind- groups which share information (C.G. Jung's 'Earth Mind', 'Group Mind', 'mob- hysteria', etc.) but, to me, this ability cannot be proved. I think the Mind can retire to where evolutionary information is stored for that species. But, I'm wildly speculating here and have no clue where, or how TSB (The Supreme Being) stores animal- evolutionary experiences.
Spirit - The Spirit is the essential, the 'real' You. Other names for the Spirit are Soul, Inner Being, Essence, etc. (Some people further distinguish the Spirit into Spirit and Soul with the Spirit more closely aligned with TSB and the Soul having earthly experiences. I believe G. Zukov, among many, many others, use that distinction but I use the terms interchangeably). The Spirit is that part of TSB that TSB has designated to have absolutely free choices. The Spirit is the planner and director of your experiences. It receives and stores info plus its conclusions about that info from your Mind, Body and Brain. It can also give and receive info/advice from other non-corporeal entities. When it directs, advises, cues, or otherwise indicates correct action to you in your Earth role it does so via emotions/ feelings. It can analyze it's own emotional communications. It knows what it is doing.
Happiness/Joy - The full range of human high emotional tones including serenity, contentment, bliss, ecstasy, etc., etc.
